This 400,000 S.F. design/build project called for structural and civil engineering design with the mission of its becoming one of the largest casino and hotel complexes in the state of Mississippi. Located on 47 acres of delta land, the old-style western street fronts serve as an entryway into the casino complex. All designs had to meet state river-based gaming regulations and Boyd Gaming design requirements.
The casino consists of a 92,000 SF, two-story fabricated structure floating on three barges. Due to the closeness of the Mississippi River, deep foundations were required using steel H-piles. A land-based 508-room hotel was built using 8" pre-cast plank and CMU. The adjacent parking garage utilizes a post-tensioned slab/beam design and cast-in-place columns. The 272,000 SF of commercial areas house restaurants and shops. A 17,000 SF entertainment complex flanks the massive development. The project was designed within six months.
