Brownsville, TN
This project consists of a creative adaptive reuse of an existing building with an addition of a jail to comprise a Justice Center for the county. The existing building is an old Wal-Mart that will now house the Sheriff's Department, Court Clerk's offices, Court Rooms and Judges Chambers, as well as Public Defender's offices and offices for the District Attorney. The existing building was upgraded to today’s buildings codes for ADA and new seismic codes. Within the existing building a new 911 Call Center will be constructed for emergency operations and constructed to be tornado resistant. The new jail will be adjacent to the existing building and consists of a two story complex capable of holding 172 inmates. The combined project consists of over 83,500 s.f. of new or renovated construction at an estimated cost of $15,000,000.
