A2H Welcomes City of Memphis Engineering Interns

A2H recently welcomed a group of college interns participating in the City of Memphis Division of Engineering’s Urban Fellows program to our Memphis office for an afternoon of conversation, professional development and exposure to careers in engineering.

The visit included a tour of A2H’s collaborative office environment and an introduction to the firm’s multidisciplinary work in roadway design, utilities, site development, bridges, water resources and other forms of community infrastructure.

Sebastrian Morris, PE, CPESC, led a lunch-and-learn focused on engineering careers, professionalism and the personal qualities that help young professionals succeed.

Drawing on lessons from his 27-year career with A2H, Sebastrian discussed the importance of reliability, accountability, communication, time management and emotional intelligence. He also emphasized the lasting influence of mentors, colleagues and professional relationships.

“The people you surround yourself with help shape who you become.”
Sebastrian Morris, PE, CPESC – Senior Civil Engineer

Sebastrian encouraged the group to gain practical experience, develop proficiency with industry software, participate in student engineering organizations, volunteer and intentionally build relationships with people who will challenge and support their growth.

A2H is grateful to the City of Memphis for investing in emerging talent through the Urban Fellows program. We appreciated the opportunity to host these future engineers, hear their questions and share a closer look at careers in the profession.
