A2H is proud to share the latest renderings of the new Frayser Community High School, a project that embodies the future of education and community engagement in Memphis. Tasked by Memphis-Shelby County Schools, A2H is leading the programming and design for this innovative facility, which will replace the existing Frayser High and Trezevant High Schools. The new school will be located on the current Frayser High site, ensuring continuity for the community while transitioning to a modern, purpose-driven space.
This approximately 300,000-square-foot facility is designed with flexibility and longevity in mind. By incorporating collaborative environments, outdoor learning spaces, generous natural daylight, and adaptable community spaces, the school will serve as a hub for education, creativity, and engagement for decades to come. The design also prioritizes durability, safety, and the ability to accommodate unforeseen future needs, new technologies, and evolving teaching methods.
One of the unique challenges of this project is constructing the new building while the existing school remains operational. Careful planning ensures that the space for the new facility is clearly defined, minimizing disruption to students and staff. Once complete, the site will be further transformed, with the current building area repurposed for athletic fields and parking.
A2H is grateful for the collaboration with Memphis-Shelby County Schools, whose guiding principles of durability, flexibility, security, and community engagement align with our vision for this transformative project. We are also proud to work with our partners, ABES Engineering, and the construction team, including Turner Construction Company, Chris Woods Construction, and Fifer & Associates, whose expertise is integral to bringing this vision to life.
As the project progresses, we look forward to sharing more updates and milestones. Together, we are shaping a space that will serve the Frayser community for generations to come.
