Frayser-Trezevant Community High School Reaches Topping Out Milestone

A major milestone is now in place at the new Frayser-Trezevant Community High School. On June 26, 2026, students, alumni, community members, Memphis-Shelby County Schools leadership, elected officials, and project partners gathered for a topping out ceremony as the final steel beam was placed atop the new campus.

The nearly 270,000-square-foot school is being built to serve approximately 1,500 students. The ceremony offered the Frayser community a chance to see the progress firsthand and mark an important step toward completion. A marching band helped bring the celebration to life, reflecting the school pride and neighborhood energy surrounding the project.

A2H engineer Sebastrian Morris, PE, CPESC, spoke on behalf of the firm during the ceremony. His participation carried special meaning for A2H as the project team joined residents, alumni, and local leaders in recognizing what the new school will mean for students and families across Frayser.

When the doors open in 2027, students will enter a campus designed to support a wide range of academic, creative, and athletic opportunities. Plans include modern classrooms, STEM spaces, career and technical education areas, athletic facilities, broadcast studios, graphic design labs, and other learning environments intended to serve current programs while supporting future needs.

A2H is serving as the architect and lead engineer for the project. Bringing architecture and engineering together under one team supports a coordinated approach as the school moves from design through construction. The topping out milestone reflects the work of Memphis-Shelby County Schools, the construction team, design partners, public leaders, and the many community members who have helped move the project forward.

The final steel beam may now be in place, but important work remains before students arrive. Construction will continue toward the planned 2027 opening, when the campus will begin its next chapter as a place for learning, creativity, connection, and opportunity.

For A2H, the project reflects our mission of Creating an Enhanced Quality of Life for Our Clients and Community. We are grateful to contribute to a school shaped for Frayser’s students and proud to continue alongside the community toward the finish line.
