A new Cherokee Health Systems facility located in historic Mechanicsville Commons opened its doors and immediately created a recognizable, regional image. We worked closely with this innovative, not-for-profit, healthcare provider to create a place that reflected the organization’s mission for healing.

This 60,000 SF new facility houses community spaces, pharmacy, medical/clinical, and behavioral health services, as well as the organization’s corporate offices. The facility has been designed to respond to the urban scale of the neighborhood while at the same time providing prominent visibility to I-40 and the downtown area. Features of the new facility include expansive views of the surrounding mountains and cityscape integrated into patient and staff circulation patterns and an organizational arrangement which supports the model of integrated patient care.
