The existing Fayette County EMA was in disrepair and had run out of room for expansion due to the growing population in Fayette County. A2H partnered with Fayette County to retrofit an abandoned jailhouse for use as the county’s new emergency management facility.
The A2H team performed a complete interior renovation of the building with an emphasis on ADA accessibility. Upgrades included a new roof, mechanical updates throughout, and the removal of a large number of steel cells from the second story of the building. Architectural elements maintained the context of the existing building while furnishing the space with new furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
