Recognition

Originally constructed in 1936, the Lauderdale County Courthouse’s unique Art Deco style brings life to the City of Ripley’s town square. In 2009, A2H worked with Lauderdale County, the City of Ripley, and Ripley Downtown Development Corporation to revitalize and update this National Register listed historic building.

The exterior renovations of the courthouse were part of the overall downtown commercial facade and Ripley Court Square Master Plan. Guided by the Secretary of Interior Standards, A2H brighten this building by cleaning the distinctive yellow brick and Art Deco motifs, added new energy efficient doors, dual-paneled windows, and an HVAC system. The replacement of the doors and windows helped reduce the building’s energy consumption by 35 percent while also maintaining the historic integrity.
